On August 11 we toured the gardens at Wolf Trap. Members of Master Gardeners of Northern Virginia were there to show us the shade garden and to answer our questions.

We were surprised at how big this one was.
For our June meeting, we met in Trudy's lovely backyard for a potluck. All of the food was fantastic.
Glenn Towle, owner of Glenn's Gardens spoke at our April meeting. For our May meeting, we toured his gardens. We enjoyed seeing the different gardens and hearing how they change throughout the seasons.
Once again we had a successful plant sale.
Our PLANT SALE will be Saturday, May 2 from 9 - 12 at the Village Shopping Center on Stone Road. We will set up near Virginia Bagel.
We will have perennials for sun and shade, lots of natives, herbs and vegetables. We will have woodland sunflower, ajuga, ostrich fern, sedum, hosta, goldenrod, creeping phlox, coral bells, black eye Susan, tomatoes, parsley, dill, cilantro and much more!
On Wednesday, April 8, several of us met at the Centreville Regional Library for a spring cleanup. We trimmed, weeded and tidied up the flower beds.
Our speaker was Glenn Towle, owner of Glenn's Gardens. He shared with us how he created his garden over the years. He explained soil preparation, time of year to plant and using natives and cultivars.
For our March meeting we made floral arrangements for the residents of Hill Valley - Fair Oaks (formerly Manor Care). Members supplied the flowers and mugs. A total of 54 arrangements were made. Theresa and Sue delivered the arrangements to Hill Valley the next morning.
At our February meeting we installed our new officers. They are Michele Bevington, correspondence secretary, Jennifer Thorpe, president, Kathleen Whitman, vice president and Robin Ward, treasurer. Not pictured, Ellen Black recording secretary.
For our program, Rick Rio from Prince William Master Gardeners gave a talk on starting seeds indoors.
Our speaker, Gretchen Mason, gave an informative talk on the care of houseplants. Gretchen currently works at Modern Foliage Designs and hosts an Instagram page as "Greenhousegirl"
She answered questions about our plants, gave advice on transplanting and general care. She even gave away some cuttings.
Susan, Stacey, Pam and Mary Beth provided the refreshments. They were enjoyed by all.
We had our Christmas Party at our December 8th meeting. It was very well attended and quite festive with holiday tablecloths and centerpieces on each table.
We had a lively gift exchange with gifts being stolen multiple times.
The delicious food came from Wegmans. There was something tasty for everyone to enjoy.

We each brought one of our own tools and we cleaned and sharpened them.
Everyone was happy with the results. Our tools looked great and we all had learned something new.
