On Friday, October 3, nine of us met at Jennifer's house and made 20 fall themed floral arrangements.
We enjoyed the music and some of us did a little shopping and supported the other merchants that were there.
Several of us enjoyed the morning touring Green Spring Gardens. The weather was perfect and we came away with quite a few ideas for our own gardens.
We didn't let a downpour stop us from touring Dan's lovely garden. He enjoyed showing us the garden that he has created over the years. He invited us to come back in the spring - on a day when it's not raining!
For our May meeting, we met at the Centreville Regional Library. We saw the updates that our club has made to the gardens. The beds were just stunning and in full bloom.
Our 2025 Plant Sale was Saturday, May 3. These wonderful ladies helped the people of Centreville pick out some lovely plants for their yards.
For our April meeting, Louis Ratchford, from Merrifield Garden Center, gave a talk, "Plant This, Not That" Native Substitutes for Common Plants. He made suggestions for alternative plants in the planter boxes that we maintain at the Sully Government Center.
We will have our PLANT SALE on Saturday, May 3 from 9 - 12 at the Village Shopping Center on Stone Road. We will have perennials for sun and shade, lots of natives, herbs and vegetables. Cash or check preferred.
We have been hard at work getting the plants ready for the sale.
Connie Chubb was the speaker at our March meeting. She gave a talk, Dark Skies at Night. She explained how dark sky conservation is important to human health, safety and the environment. We learned how lights at night can affect wildlife, especially migrating birds. She also shared tips on security lighting for our homes.
We were invited to teach a floral design class to the students of Union Mill Elementary School Garden Club. We had a great time with the students. They paid attention while Theresa taught the basics and they applied what they learned. They were very proud of their arrangements. There may be some future flower shop owners in the group!

Jenny, Theresa and Kathleen brought tasty refreshments and decorated the table beautifully in a President's Day theme.
For our January meeting we made floral arrangements in coffee mugs. Twenty-two of us worked for a little over an hour and made a total of 80 arrangements.
Tuesday morning, Robin, Theresa and Cathy delivered the arrangements to Fair Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center.
We had our holiday party, potluck and gift exchange. There was great food, and we had a lively gift exchange.
